Tributes Paid to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Other Freedom Fighters at Amritsar

Wrestler Kanwarjeet Singh Sandhu of Naushera Dhala and others paying tribute to the martyrs.

Amritsar, March 23, 2025 (Parveen Puri ) – A tribute event was organized today to honor the supreme sacrifices of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, and other martyrs of India’s freedom struggle. Addressing the gathering, noted social activist and wrestler Kanwarjeet Singh Sandhu from Naushera Dhala urged the youth to follow in the footsteps of these revolutionary heroes. “Bhagat Singh and his comrades are our true icons. Upholding their ideology and dedicating ourselves to the service of the nation and society is the real tribute to them,” said Sandhu. The event was attended by several prominent personalities. Before arriving at Naushera Dhala, Kanwarjeet Singh Sandhu, who came especially from Mumbai with his family and associates, first paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar. Later in the evening, he was warmly welcomed in his native village Naushera Dhala. He also visited and paid respects at Gurdwara Bhagat Jallan Dass Ji.

Sandhu also held a special meeting with Harinder Singh Sekhon, a senior leader, where they discussed key initiatives for social welfare. Speaking to the media, Sandhu said, “March 23 marks a turning point in the freedom movement, filling it with passion and a new direction. It ignited the spirit of freedom in every Indian.” He further emphasized the need to adopt the revolutionary zeal and principles of the martyrs in our daily lives. “Bhagat Singh and his fellow freedom fighters laid down their lives to show us the path of revolution and justice. It is now our responsibility to move forward with honesty and courage to fulfill their dreams,” Sandhu added.

Floral tributes were offered to the martyrs as attendees raised slogans and pledged to walk the path of bravery and sacrifice. Harinder Singh highlighted the importance of defending democratic rights and called for unity to protect the values the martyrs fought for.

Among the notable attendees were Davinder Singh Sandhu Lali Dhala, Baba Nirmal Singh, Jaswinder Singh Sandhu, Savinder Singh Dhillon, Baldev Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Gurbir Singh Laddi (commission agent), Manna Dhala, Gurbhej Singh (Sarpanch Cheema), Mohkam Singh Cheema, Praveen Puri, Jaspal Singh Bhullar, Kanwaljit Singh Gill Bittu Ratia, Boota Singh, and Davinder Singh Sandhu, among others also paid tributes to the martyrs.
