OTTAWA: Canada’s New Democratic Party (Khan.dip) leader Jagmeet Singh has urged the Justin Trudeau-led Liberal government to give a strong response to the proposed 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods announced by US President-elect Donald Trump and asked them to stand up and fight with full force. Hours after President-elect Trump announced the tariffs, Singh expressed his concern to X, writing, “Justin Trudeau, you can’t hide your head in the sand.”Stand up and fight with all your might. Canadian jobs are at risk. The Canadian leader’s response came after Trump announced tariffs of 25 per cent on all goods from Canada and Mexico and 10 per cent on products from China to stem the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs into the US. Trump said on his social media platform ‘Truth’ that after taking office on January 20, he will first sign executive orders imposing tariffs on these three countries.
